PUBLIC NOTICE

On or about April 19, 2021, Martin County was awarded funds from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs for grant from the COVID-19 Response Program of the State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. This program is funded by Title I of the Federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended. These funds are to be used for Economic Development to assist businesses impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic. The total amount of CDBG funds awarded was $250,000. The amount of CDBG funds to be used for activities that will benefit low-to-moderate income persons is $127,500. The project expended no local funds.

Martin County will hold a public hearing on November 2, 2021, at 5:30 p.m., at the Martin County Courthouse, 129 Main Street, Commissioners’ Room, Shoals, Indiana 47581 to provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on the federally funded CDBG project. Commissioners’ Meeting are currently being held in person and by Zoom. To be included by Zoom please contact the County Auditor, at 812-247-3731. Persons with disabilities or non-English speaking persons who wish to attend the public hearing and need assistance should contact the Southern Indiana Development Commission, P.O. Box 442, Loogootee, Indiana 47553, (812) 295-3707 not later than October 29, 2021. Every effort will be made to make reasonable accommodations for these persons.

Information related to this project will be available for review prior to the public hearing as of October 22, 2021, at the Martin County Auditor’s Office located a the Martin County Courthouse, 129 Main Street, Shoals, Indiana 47581 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, or at the Southern Indiana Development Commission Office, 405 J.F.K. Avenue, Suite A, Loogootee, Indiana 47553, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Interested citizens are invited to provide comments regarding these issues either at the public hearing or by prior written statement. Written comments should be submitted to the Auditor’s Office, 129 Main Street, Shoals, Indiana 47581 no later than November 1, 2021 in order to ensure placement of such comments in the official record of the public hearing proceedings. A plan to minimize displacement and provide assistance to those displaced has been prepared by Martin County and is also available to the public. This project will result in no displacement of any person or businesses.
