The DNR Division of Historic Preservation & Archaeology will hold a public information meeting about the proposed Shoals Historic District at 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 27th. The meeting will be held at the Shoals Public Library, located at 404 High Street, in Shoals. The meeting will give attendees a chance to learn about the National Register of Historic Places and what it means to be listed. The meeting will also cover some of the common misconceptions about the Register. National Register staff from the DNR will be present to answer questions. The proposed district includes historic properties from many periods of the town’s history. The meeting offers the chance to learn about the various incentives that owners can apply to receive, and other results of the community’s efforts to gain National Register listing.
