Steven C. Holt Dies Feb. 13th; Celebration Of Life Sat., March 2nd

Steven C. Holt, age 59, of Shoals, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at his residence at Shoals.

He was born in Daviess County, Indiana, February 21, 1959, to Ermin H. and Vera (Lundy) Holt.

He attended Shoals Schools and had worked at United States Gypsum, in Shoals, for several years.

Survivors include one son, Jared Holt, of Williams; granddaughter, Vera Holt, of Williams; three sisters, Judith Sheetz, of Jasper; Janet Watson and husband Jerry, of Illinois; and Alice Jones, of Shoals; one brother, Ermin E. Holt and wife Darla, of Shoals; stepson, Christopher Stone, of Crane; and three step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers-in-law, Doug Sheetz and Dave Jones.

Cremation was chosen with no funeral service.

The Cresthaven Funeral Home, in Bedford, Indiana, was in charge of the arrangements.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Shoals American Legion at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2nd.

Laura E. Wathen Dies Sun., Feb. 17th; Services Fri., Feb. 22nd

Laura E. Wathen, age 79, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019, at 4:00 a.m., at the Loogootee Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on March 17, 1939, to the late Charles Eugene and Goldie Mae (Dillon) Fields.

Laura was a member of the Catholic Faith, she was always caring and willing to lend a helping hand. She loved to work in her flower beds, quilt, and bake pies for friends and family.

Survivors include her children, Mary Alice Wessner and husband John, Bill Wathen, and Robert Wathen and wife Mary Ann; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her brothers, Jack Fields, Eddie Fields, Charles Fields, and Delbert Fields; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Wathen; her parents, Charles Eugene Fields, and Goldie Mae (Fields) Fox; and one brother, Buddy Fields.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 22nd, at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by the Very Reverend J. Kenneth Walker, at St. John the   Evangelist Catholic Church, in Loogootee. 

Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the Church.

Graveside service will be held inside the church.

Mary Jeanette Albertson Dies Feb. 13th; Celebration Of Life Feb. 20th

Mary Jeanette Albertson, age 76, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away at 8:13 a.m., on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Memorial Hospital and Health   Care Center, in Jasper, Indiana.

She was born June 17, 1942, in Loogootee, to Henry and Mary (Pettigrew) Jones, one of five children.

Mary Jeanette was a member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, in Loogootee, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the Moose Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son, Philip M. Jahn and wife Lisa, of Ferdinand; her daughter, Brenda J. Radcliffe - Spiller, of Newburgh; her grandchildren, Demi Jahn, of Ferdinand; Tiffany Radcliffe and Jim Spiller, of Newburgh; and Nicole Gillespie and husband Nate, of San Diego, California; great-grandchildren, Lavande and Lennox Gillespie, of San Diego, California; her siblings, Jane Bruner, of Loogootee;  and Marty Scott, of Palmyra; and her special cousin, Emma Engleman, of Loogootee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Jones; brothers, John T. Jones and James B. Jones.

As a final act of giving she is a donor to the Indiana University School of Medicine for the Anatomical Education Program for the advancement of medical education and research.

There will be no viewing or visitation. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, in Loogootee, at 11:00 a.m. on     Wednesday, February 20th.

Susan Marie Tolbert Dies Mon., Feb. 11th; Service Held Sat., Feb. 16th

Susan Marie Tolbert, age 60, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital, in Evansville, Indiana.

She was born May 13, 1958, in Tallahassee, Florida, to Robert and Marion (Cumberlidge) Clark. She married Gregory Tolbert in 1976, in Loogootee.

Susan was a homemaker and was a member of the Loogootee Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Gregory Tolbert; three daughters, Tonya Jones and husband Michael, of Loogootee; Marion Anderson, of Fort Wayne; and April Payne and husband Josh, of Loogootee; eight grandchildren, Ariel Derr and husband David, Jonathon Jones and wife Kayla, Taylor Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Nicole Anderson, Seth Wisner, and Lance Wisner; two brothers, Charles Clark and Tom Clark, both of Florida; and two sisters, Barbara Smith and Karen Boyd, both of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, William Clark and Robert Clark.

A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16th, at the Queen-Lee Chapel, in Shoals, of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes.

Burial will be made at a later date.

Visitation was held from 11:00 a.m. on Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Queen-Lee Chapel.

Mary “Kathy” Blackman-Byron Dies On Fri., Feb. 8th; Visitation Wed., No Service

Mary Katherine “Kathy” Blackman-Bryon, age 50, of Newberry, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019, in Washington, Indiana.

She was born March 6, 1968, to the late Jimmy Herbert and Mary Jo (Spears) Blackman, in Corydon, Indiana.

Kathy loved to crochet, color, and read.

Survivors include her children, Jacqueline (Johanna Mae) Blackman, of San Diego, California; Dakota August and Jason Byron, both of Newberry, Indiana; her siblings, Kevin Blackman, of Lakeland, Florida; and Ken Blackman and wife Miranda, of Wheatland, Indiana; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 13th, from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m., at the Blake Funeral Home, in Loogootee.

Cremation will follow to honor her wishes.
