Aleva Lucas, age 77, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at the Loogootee Nursing Center.

She was born March 20, 1942, in Martin County, Indiana, to the late Sargent Dove and Betty (Jones) Dove-Blair.

Aleva was passionate about her family and loved to spoil her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, sweet tea, and decorating for Christmas.

She was the proud owner of Aleva’s Hair Studio and made many friends during her 30 plus year career and as many of her customers learned, it was Aleva’s way or the highway!

She was a member of the Loogootee Christian Church and enjoyed watching Loogootee Lions basketball games.

Survivors include her son, William Lucas and companion Jessica McClure, of Loogootee; grandchildren, Chelsi Hamilton and husband L.C., Will Lucas and Olivia Lucas; great-grandson, Hank Hamilton; and friends, Pam Loughmiller and Beth Lett.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Bob Dove.

A funeral service was conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27th, at the Blake Funeral Home, in Loogootee.

Burial was made in the Goodwill Cemetery, at Loogootee.

Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Blake Funeral Home, to help with funeral expenses.
