Carl Max Cooper, age 89, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Good Samaritan Hospital, in Vincennes, Indiana.

He was born on September 1, 1932, in Loogootee, Indiana, to the late Carl and Vivian (McBryant) Cooper.

Max was a United States Air Force Veteran and served in Germany. He loved woodworking and cruising in his 1955 Oldsmobile. He was an airplane and railroad enthusiast. He had worked part-time at the Loogootee V.F.W. for 20 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the V.F.W. Post 9395.

Survivors include his children, Dana Davis and husband Keith, of Vincennes; Carl “CJ” Cooper and Staci DeWitt, of Dubois; and Bryan Cooper, of Loogootee; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Tom Cooper, of Kokomo.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Dee Ann Nolan; one great-granddaughter; 1st wife, Mary Jane Cooper; 3rd wife, Roberta Cooper; siblings, Geraldine Fiscus, Carolyn Blackwell, Charles “Slick” Cooper, and Carla Howell.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday (today), October 6th, at the Blake Funeral Home, in Loogootee.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9395 or St. Vincent De Paul Society.
