Floyd E. Goodman, Jr., age 68, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at his home after a battle with cancer.

He was born to Floyd E. Goodman, Sr., and Lorraine Carter on January 25, 1950.

He graduated from Effingham High School in 1968, and relocated to Martin County, Indiana, upon his military retirement in 1989.

Floyd strived to epitomize the phrase “For God, My Country, and My Family” during his daily life. He placed his faith in Jesus Christ at age 15 and remained faithful throughout the remainder of his life. As a part of this commitment, he served the Lord as a Treasurer and Deacon for his church for many years. To honor his country, Floyd served in the United States Air Force, earning two commendation medals before retiring after twenty years of dedication as a ground radar and airfield specialist. Lastly, he remained true to his love and the vows of marriage to his high school sweetheart, Brenda K. (Cummings) Goodman, for forty-eight years until his death.

In addition to fulfilling each of these commitments, Floyd spent a great deal of time making those around him laugh with his playful sense of humor and sli-ghtly sarcastic nature. He also loved sharing the Word of God with others at every opportunity. With the remainder of his free time, he could be found “junking”, debating politics, watching  Fox News, hiding money from his wife, and spending time with his friends and family.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Brenda, of Loogootee. He is also survived by his daughter, Kathy Baker and husband Rich, of Effingham, Illinois; and sons, Charles Goodman and wife Tasha, and Steve Goodman and wife Cristina, of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley White and Brandon Balcer, Kolbee Ba-ker, Sierra Blankenship, Emma Goodman, and Brendan Goodman; great-grandchildren, Aubriana White and Kylan Balcer; sisters, Tana Hazlett and husband Terry, and Betty Johnson; brothers, Michael Goodman and wife Tina, Terry Goodman, and Cliff Goodman and wife Kari; as well as many aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd E. Goodman, Sr., and Lorraine Wilkerson.

A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 11th, at 7:00 p.m., at the Blake Funeral Home, in Loogootee, with Pastor Carl Williams officiating the service.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions can be made to Assembly of Christ, 240 S. John Street, Bloomfield, IN 47424.
