George F. Spears, age 72, of Bedford, Indiana, passed away at IU Health Bloomington Hospital on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

He was born in Martin County on February 19, 1948, to George J. Spears and Betty (Peck) Spears. He married Lana Brassine on October 15. 1994.

George was a 1966 graduate of Shoals High School and U.S. Army Veteran. He was a 50-year member of the Shoals American Legion Post No. 61. He was a graduate of the Indiana School of Mortuary Science as a licensed Funeral Director, and worked at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home, in Shoals, and Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, in Bedford, before retiring. George had previously served as the Martin County Coroner and was a member of the Shoals United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lana (Brassine) Spears, of Bedford; one brother, Karlas Spears and wife Sandy, of Bedford; and one sister, Wanda Stone and husband David, of Shoals.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Max Leroy McDaniel and Carl “Buddy” McDaniel; and two sisters, Linda Tedrow and infant sister, Sandy Spears.

No service will be held. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, in Shoals.

The Cresthaven Funeral Home, in Bedford, was in charge of the arrangements.
