Georgia Ann Ackerman, age 78, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away at 1:50 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at her home.

She was born on July 9, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late George and Winifred (Fettic) Carrico. She married Albert T. “Skip” Ackerman on September 30, 1961 and together they raised four children.

Georgia Ann retired from NSWC Crane after approximately 20 years of employment. She loved her family, grandchildren, and working outdoors. She loved eating sweets and especially enjoyed ice cream. She was a volunteer at the St. Vincent dePaul Food Bank and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Skip, of Loogootee; sons, Eric Ackerman and wife Susan, of Loogootee; Dirk Ackerman and wife Lisa, of Ellettsville; Cameron Ackerman, of Loogootee; and Brant Ackerman and wife Renee, of Washington; grandchildren, Jill Wininger and husband Michael, Bryant Ackerman and wife Brittany, Abby Ackerman and Luke Harmon, Nicholas Ackerman, Brooke Mackey and husband Jeff, Taylor Abram and Amie, Mikaela Norton and husband Reed, Maura Brown and husband Brian, Noah, Azeria and Analiese Ackerman; 11 great-grandchildren; nephew, Brent Vaughan and wife Carrie; niece, Cara Vaughan and Russ Kaufman; and sister-in-law, Ann Ackerman.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Vaughan and husband Bill.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 28th, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, in Loogootee, with the Very Reverend J. Kenneth Walker officiating. Visitation was held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 27th, at the Blake Funeral Home, in Loogootee.
