Helen Lois Sheetz, age 97, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away at 10:37 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the Loogootee Healthcare And Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on February 9, 1921, in Washington, Indiana, to the late John Ferguson and Phobie (Thombleson) Ferguson. She married Gilbert Sheetz on June 10, 1939, and he also preceded her in death November 6, 1978.

Helen attended Washington Schools, was a homemaker, was of the Christian Faith and enjoyed gardening, mowing, quilting, sewing, and being with her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Yvonne Summers and husband Joe, and Roxie Kay Hunt and husband Bill, all of Loogootee; three grandsons, Kevin Hunt and wife Cathy, of Rantoul, Illinois; Kelly Hunt and wife Dana, of Buffalo, Illinois; and Larry Summers, of Loogootee; one granddaughter, Terri Nicholson and husband David, of Aurora; great-grandchildren, Donald Nicholson and wife Ashley, Katherine Bass and husband Zach, Stephanie Hunt, Abigail Hunt, Sarah Jones and husband Brandon, Allyson Hunt, Aubrielle Hunt, and Brian Hunt; great-great-grandchildren, Gavin Bass, Mila Jones, Noah Nicholson, and Luke Nicholson; one sister, Nora Tate, of Bloomington; one sister-in-law, Barbara Ferguson, of Greenwood; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Henry, James, Sam, Tom, and Robert Ferguson; and two sisters, Marcella King and Lucy Gough.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10th, at the Queen-Lee Chapel, of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, in Shoals. Reverend Mike Strawn will officiate the service.

Burial will be made in the Mt. Union Cemetery.

Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday.
