James L. Hopkins, age 82, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away at 4:35 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at The Timbers of Jasper.

He was born March 17, 1938, in Shoals, Indiana to the late James John and Mae (Ross) Hopkins.

Jim was a member of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church. He loved to travel with his family. His family was his pride and joy. He enjoyed woodworking and coon hunting. His favorite pastime was sitting on his front porch with his wife, Vondale Hopkins, who passed away on March 23, 2018.

Survivors include his daughters, Alice Stempf and husband Thomas, of Loogootee, and Rose Popp and husband Jeff, of Jasper; grandchildren, Katie Stempf, John Stempf and wife Brittny, and Matthew Popp and wife Lauren; great-grandchildren, Lilly Moffatt, Luke Bruner, Millie Popp, and Baby Beckham Popp, due to arrive in January of 2021; and one sister, Jewell Ziegler.

He was also preceded in death by an infant son and daughter; and siblings, Keith Hopkins, Catherine Lagenour, Bessie Stone, Brenda Sherfick, Joann Ho-pkins, Imogene Witt, Goldie  Wilcutt, Lois Gillion, and Helen Hert.

A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6th, at the Blake Funeral Home, in Loogootee.

Burial followed in the Truelove United Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation was held on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
