James L. “Sonny” Pruett, age 80, formerly of Shoals, Indiana, passed away in Bloomington, Indiana, Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

He was born on January 4, 1940, in Muncie, Indiana, to Lawson and Inez (Baker) Pruett. He married Sue McRoberts on April 23, 1966, in Odon, Indiana.

“Sonny” was a graduate of Williams High School, retired from Crane Army Ammunition Activity with 32 years of service, was a wedding photographer and operated a woodworking shop. He was a member of the Shoals Christian Church, was a 32nd Degree Mason and Past Master of the White River Lodge #332 in Shoals, a member of the Shoals American Legion, Shoals V.F.W., and was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Pruett, of Bloomington; one son, Mike Pruett and wife Maria, of Montgomery; one daughter, Tonya Pruett Becker and husband Roger, of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Damon, Courtney and Makenna Pruett, of Montgomery; and Rylee and Raylan Becker, of Bloomington; one brother, Charles “Broz” Pruett, of Shoals; one sister, Mary Jane Allbright, of Shoals; and one uncle, Charles Pruett, of Shoals.

A private service will be held with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery, in Shoals.
