Janet L. Jones, age 81, of Loogootee, passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at St. Charles Health Campus.

She was born April 2, 1938, in Martin County, Indiana, to the late John Thomas and Mary Opal (Patterson) Summers.

Janet was a past member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and funeral meal coordinator. She later became a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Janet loved nature and poetry. She enjoyed country music. She always put her children first before her own needs. She loved her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Jones; parents, John Thomas and Mary Opal (Patterson) Summers; siblings, Kenny (Mary Catherine) Summers, Patty Bowling, Judy (Bud) Gregory, and Mary Louise (Keith) Yarnell.

Janet is survived by her children, Richard A. (Kimberly A.) Jones, Robert E. (Pam) Jones, Ronald G. (Jacqueline L.) Jones, and Jennifer (Brian) Williams, all of Loogootee; grandchildren, Ryan A. Jones, Andrea Jones, Lindsey Brooke Jones, Ashley Nicole (Wyatt) Smith, Travis (Melieseha) Bullock, Abbie         Williams, Garrett Williams, and Evan Williams; great-grandchildren, Owen D. Jones, Winston L. Smith, Lakyn and Emery Bullock; brothers, John C. “Charlie” (Jeannine) Summers and Thomas E. “Ed” (Becky) Summers; and brother-in-law, Don (Patty) Bowling.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by the Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2019, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic     Church, in Loogootee.

Burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery – Barr Township.

Visitation was held on Friday, July 5th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Blake Funeral Home, in Loogootee.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
