Janet S. Strange, age 81, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at 6:08 p.m. at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 23, 1937, in Loogootee, to Noble G. and Mae (Ledgerwood) Gibson.
Janet loved Jesus Christ and loved to attend church. She was a member of Redemption Church, in Loogootee. She worked as a Mary Kay Manager/Consultant, and retired from Buehler’s Buy Low grocery store. Janet worked as a substitute teacher at Loogootee Schools and was a Granny to everyone. She was a member of 40/8 and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Janet was lovingly known as the “Neighborhood Watch” and kept an eye out for everyone’s safety.
Survivors include her children, David H. Strange, Jr. and wife Leesa, Jana Seal, and Dana T. Strange and wife Cheryl; grandchildren, Emily Strange, Conner Strange, Jamie Underwood and husband John, Justin Seal and wife Ashley, Jennifer Shelby and husband James, Jessica Seal, Nathan Riehl and wife Robin, Austin Strange, Madison Strange, and Dalton Strange; great-grandchildren, Danielle Seal, Daniel Underwood, Luke Underwood, Carson Seal, Cooper Seal, Brayden Shelby, Matthew Underwood, Alex Shelby, Evan Riehl, Owen Riehl; and her constant pet companions, Scarlett and Brooks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Strange; her son, Daniel G. Strange; and her parents, Noble and Mae Gibson.
Visitation was held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20th, and again on Saturday, September 21st, from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service, both at the Redemption Christian Church, in Loogootee.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 21st, at 1:00 a.m. at the Redemption Christian Church, with Cameron Gladish officiating the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or Redemption Christian Church.
