Mary Ellen (Graber) Bateman, age 73, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away at 9:35 a.m., on Monday, November 18, 2019, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, in Jasper, Indiana.
She was born October 22, 1946, in Daviess County, Indiana, to the late Mahlon and Mattie (Yutzy) Graber.
Mary Ellen was a member of the Loogootee United Methodist Church and attended the Loogootee Christian Church on Sunday evenings. She loved her dog “Bear” and making noodles with her nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her siblings, Marvin Graber and wife Carolyn, of Loogootee; Amanda Davis, of Goshen; Delmar Graber and wife Vera, of Cannelburg; Delilah Fern Sult and husband Tim, of Loogootee; Magdalena Stemen and husband Kenneth, of Loogootee; Dorothy Gilbert and husband Jim, of Loogootee; and Joan Yoder and husband Curt, of New Paris; 27 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; stepchildren, James Bateman and Mike Bateman and wife Kim, all of Loogootee; and Anna Bauer, of St. Louis; 12 stepgra-ndchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Bateman; brothers, Ervin Graber and wife, Betty; Ezra Graber and wife Wilma; and Mahlon Graber, Jr.; step-daughter, Janet Combess and husband Bill; step-daughter-in-law, Wilma Bateman.
A funeral service was conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 22nd, at the Loogootee United Methodist Church.
Burial followed in the Goodwill Cemetery, at Loogootee.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 21st, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Blake Funeral Home, in Loogootee, and on Friday, November 22nd, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
