Michael Albertson, age 72, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away at 2:55 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at IU Health University Hospital, in Indiana-polis, Indiana, from complications caused by esophageal cancer.

He was born July 7, 1947, in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Andrew and Colleen (Mounce) Albertson.

Mike was a United States Navy Veteran and navigated the USS Sequoia, the presidential yacht during President Nixon’s administration.

He enjoyed playing golf, watching football, and frequenting the local casinos. He volunteered at the American Legion Post 120 and helped account for the payroll. He served on the Martin-Daviess County Park Board.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Laura (Northover) Albertson; daughters, Carrie Albertson and partner, Donald Humbert; Brooke Albertson and Kelly Ash and husband Adam; grandson, Treyton Baker; granddaughter, Teagan Ash; brother, Robert Albertson; sister, Terry Fitch and husband Toby; and one nephew, Bryce Fitch.

Mike was also preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Heidy Albertson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27th, at the Blake Funeral Home, in Loogootee.

Burial will follow in the Goodwill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26th, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 120, in Loogootee, Indiana.
