Oscar B. Allbright, Jr., age 89, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away at 7: 35 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at the Loogootee Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on February 22, 1930, in Lost River Township, to the late Oscar B. Allbright, Sr., and Florence (Waggoner) Melvin.
Oscar was the Martin County Sheriff from 1967 to 1971. He was also a past Shoals Town Marshal, a former owner of Allbright’s Restaurant, and the Huron Grocery Store. He was a master gardener. Oscar specialized in teasing and tormenting his family and friends. He was a member of the Loogootee United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Becky (Woods) Allbright, of Loogootee; children, David Allbright and wife Carla, and Dwain Allbright and wife Becky, all of Mitchell; Ryan Allbright, of Tennessee; and Bladen Allbright, of Loogootee; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Bob Allbright and wife Pat, Edith Davis, George Albright and Brenda Smoot, Joyce Jones and husband John, all of Shoals; and Betty Jo Guthrie, of Orleans.
He was also preceded in death by two siblings, Ray Allbright and wife Norma, and Vondale Hopkins and husband Jim.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14th, at the Loogootee United Methodist Church.
Burial will be made in the Huron Cemetery.
Visitation is on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
