Merrill Dean Brassine, age 64, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at the Phoenix Veteran’s Hospital after a lengthy illness.

To honor Dean’s wishes, there was no visitation or public service. A private Memorial Service was held on December 1, 2018, in the Mesa, Arizona desert with his children, their spouses, granddaughters, and Doug and Billie Brassine in attendance. Following that service Doug and Billie transported the bulk of Dean’s cremains back to Indiana for interment on the Mt. Olive family plot. This private memorial service was attended by siblings, Larry, Doug, Cindy, and Sandy, along with their spouses on September 9, 2019, followed by several hours of tears, laughter, and memory sharing.

He was born on December 4, 1953, in Trinity Springs, Indiana, to Paul F. and Donna C. Brassine. Dean was a Veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Mount Olive Church of Christ.

He loved the peace and beauty of the Arizona Desert and enjoyed camping, fishing, swimming, hunting, and gardening with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Dean could always turn a simple thing into a wonderful memory. He was alw-ys willing to help anyone and never knew a stranger.

Survivors include his four children, Scott Yale and wife Britta, and their daughter Paige, of Mesa, Arizona; Jill Yale Knight and husband Chris, and their daughter, Cheyenne, of Phoenix, Arizona; and Nicholas Paul Brassine, of Mesa, Arizona; two brothers, Larry Brassine, of Kinston, North Carolina, and Doug Brassine, of Loogootee; three sisters, Cindy Kellams, Sandy Andis, and Brandi Brassine, all of Shoals.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Lee Brassine; and one daughter, Krystina Brassine.

It was Dean’s hope that his friends, family, and classmates would cherish their love, laughter, and time together as much as he did.
