Raydies D. “Tater” Thimling, age 93, of Shoals, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the Daviess Community Hospital, in Washington.

He was born June 12, 1926, in Martin County, to the late Martin and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Thimling. He married Ruth Tow on October 18, 1956, and she also preceded him in death in 2005.

He retired from National Gypsum with thirty-three and a half years of service, was a farmer, truck driver, and served as Democrat Precinct Committeeman for twenty years. He was a member of the Shoals Christian Church, the Shoals American Legion for sixty-five years and was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.

“Tater” was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ambrose, Lenise, and Frank Thimling.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 2nd, at the Queen-Lee Chapel, in Shoals, of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, Inc.

Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1st, at the funeral home.
