Rebecca L. Costello, age 73, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at her residence.

She was born on January 1, 1947, in Shoals, Indiana, to Alf-red A. and Myrtle Mae (Herndon) Rutledge. She married James H. Ragens in 1963 and later married Stephen A. Costello and he passed in 2014.

She retired in 2004 from the United States Department of Agriculture and was of the Jewish faith.

Survivors include her mother, Myrtle Rutledge, of Shoals; one son, James H. Ragens and wife Stephanie, of Washington; three daughters, Lisa Johnson and husband Randy, of Loogootee; Teresa and Stacy White, of Grand Prairie, Texas; and Amanda Hunt, of Loogootee; eight grandchildren, Chase Ragens, Anna Ragens, Matthew Johnson, Jennifer and Eddie Craney, Benjamin and Kendall Leach, Jonathan Leach, Trey Hunt and Tanner Hunt; and one sister, Mary Frances Hatfield, of Bedford.

Ms. Costello was also preceded in death by her father; a grandson, Seth Leach; a granddaughter, Taylor Hunt; two brothers, Alfred A. Rutledge and Michael David Rutledge; and two sisters, Cherie Bruner and Candace Mundy.

A private service will be held for the family with burial to be made in the Spring Hill Cemetery, at Shoals.

Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital.

The Queen-Lee Chapel, in Shoals, of the Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, Inc., is in charge of the arrangements.
