The SCS Administration is pleased to introduce a new behavior program to the community. The PBIS program will be implemented in the Fall Semester of the 2016-2017 school year. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Incentives & Supports; it focuses on rewarding positive behavior rather than simply punishing negative behavior. This is a big change for our school. Our Staff wants to encourage our students to improve and recognize/reward them for doing so. We call our new program; P.R.I.D.E. We want to be Positive, Respectful, Improving, Disciplined, and Engaged at SCS. We have developed a mission statement, behavior matrix, school-specific goals, and behavior expectations that apply to anyone and everyone who walks through our doors. We are looking to change the atmosphere in our school from looking for trouble to looking for terrific. We have a lot of wonderful things going on in our facility and we want to highlight them. A key feature of our new PRIDE program is that students who meet behavior expectations will be awarded points for doing so. They can use their points to purchase goods, privileges, or participate in special events. The program applies to all students regardless of past discipline issues, or grade point average. Check out our Facebook page and keep reading The Shoals News for more information about PRIDE!
